Description:
The Maritime Forestry Complex Corporation has an opening for a Grounds Keeper & Building Maintenance.This position is Casual to Start with the opportunity of becoming Permanent.This role will include , however not limited to, troubleshooting issues related to grounds and building maintenance , proactive approach to design and development of the landscape architecture as well as other task and or special projects defined by the manager . Maintaining a high standard for the corporation’s public image must be considered when performing this role.
Essential Functions
To perform this job successfully , an individualmust be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
O Inspect and repair any defects related to on site structures
O Up keep of landscape to including raking, aerating, fertilizing ,weeding gardens, pruning shrubs and trees and perform other maintenance duties
O Operate and maintain all site equipment including lawn mowers, tractors, grass trimmers, hedge trimmers and other landscape maintenance equipment
O Spread top soil, lay sod, plant annuals , perennials shrubs , trees, and perform other duties to assist with the construction of a landscape and related structures
O Keep grounds looking neat and tidy appearance at all times
O Audits and inspections within the corporations site for cleanness and safety hazards
O Assist with the movement of office furniture and or equipment as required
O Basic knowledge of trees , perennials and annuals
O Snow removal is required of this role . The use of appropriatemachinery and working with snow melting substances
O Prioritize and schedule all work to meet deadlines
O Execute all work in a safe, professional manner in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety
O Other duties as required and assigned by the Maintenance Manager

O Safety Awareness- Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee and visitor safety
O Communication-Ability to read and write and follow oral and written instructions
O Management Skills -Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised at times
O Decision Making –Ability to make critical decisions while following the company procedures
O Working Under Pressure – ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations
O First Aid
O Valid Class 5 Driver’slicense
Working Conditions
O Works primarily outdoors
O Lifting of fertilizer ,soil and lime
O Exposure to variable temperatures and weather conditions ,dirt, dust fumes , odors and equipment noise
O 40 hour weeks , weather permitting
Computer Skills
O Ability to use Microsoft office
Salary
Depends on Experience
Required Education
Academic High School or GED
3 to 5 years related experience in landscaping or Groundkeeper would be considered an asset.Related Experience in General Mechanics of Small Equipmentwould be considered an asset.
