Description:

We are seeking an in-home sitter/daytime nanny for our two boys who will be ages 5 years and 1 year old. We live in Island Lakes and would require care for 3 days per week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). Care would be required for 9 hours per day, from 7:45 sharp until 4:45.

We would expect that the caregiver we seek be kind, compassionate, and dedicated to the tasks surrounding the care and safety of the children. We are not interested in a house keeper or person to do light house work. The sole purpose of this add is to locate someone to provide for the care of our boys.

Breakfast and lunch feedings would be an expected part of this job. It is most likely that meals would be prepared in advance and only require minimal preparation and serving. We would want this person to feel free to eat at our home or bring their own lunch. The boys have no known allergies.

Our oldest is attending kindergarten in the afternoon hours from 12:25 until 3:18. Arrangements for transport to and from school would not be part of this job. Our youngest is nearly walking which offers a variety of challenges and concerns.

Supervision, constructive playtimes and appropriate behavior modeling are what we seek. We believe in timeout philosophy for discipline (if age appropriate), attention diversion (for infant/toddlers), and do not use physical forms of punishment at all. We engage in constructive conversations and do not allow adult orientated television programs to be on in the daytime.

We seek a caregiver who wishes to tend to the needs of two small children, play, craft, read and imagine.

Regarding the timeframe for this job, we need someone to fill this position for the end of October. We would require services until the end of June 2009. The work schedule would follow the school calendar, with holiday periods over Winter/Christmas season and Spring Break. We would maintain payment for services over these two vacation periods (3 weeks in duration). We feel that we offer a competitive amount of $200.00 for the 3 days of work / week. All money paid will be receipted and signed by both parties.

We are asking for the completion of a handwritten application. This application may be requested, then sent by e-mail and returned by regular post (Canada Post). References, both personal and work related are mandatory conditions of hiring, as are criminal and abuse registry checks. Registry checks would have to be fully completed and forwarded prior to start dates. We would demand that the results of these checks be sent to us via the City Police Department.
