Mr. Wambaugh was a Los Angeles police officer until a lucky publisher noted his great skill at writing. His fiction is mostly of the police procedural variety, enlivened by his wonderful characters and solidified by a strong base in reality. The two non-fiction works in this collection (Fire Lover and The Blooding) read as smoothly and as pleasurably as the fiction. 12 volumes in good condition, for a laughably minuscule $20.
