Description:
Steve became a member of my family in 2001. He was approximately 4 inches long
then, but after many years of care and love he now measures half a meter long (23" or 2ft. long). I wish I could tell you how much he weighs but I've never attempted to take him out of his home (125 gallon tank.)
He is a Captive Bred RED TAIL GOLDEN ASIAN AROWANA. He came certified and microchipped from Dragon Fish Industry (Singapore). He is a perfect example of what this species should look like.
According to the literature I have acquired he should live to be approximately sixty years old. Taiwanese and Chinese believe the Arowana is an incarnation of the Divinity Dragon, which has the invincinble power to control evil and guard ones house. The Chinese think the dragon is lucky and can manage evil, ease residence, press luck, and bring wealth. Every form of trade and business treats the Arowana as the best geomancy fish, believing that it can bring them good luck.
I hate to see Steve go but will sell to the right family/person.
You can pick him up for $2500 in Brampton, ON and his certificate is included. The price may be high for some, but if you bought him at the pet store you would most definitely pay upwards of $5,000...if you could find him at a petstore... he is truly is a rare and beautiful fish!
