Description:
I have several adult electric blue (Procambarus alleni) crayfish for sale. I have both males and females.
You need to be careful on what type of aqurium to keep crayfish in.
-Crayfish prefer cooler temperatures of 15-26°C
-Crayfish are better kept in a ‘crayfish only’ aquarium because they will eat any fish they catch. However, quick, top water layer swimming fish such as darios, might be ok if you want your crayfish to have some tank mates.
-Crayfish have very hard shells that make them resistant to attacks from other crayfish EXCEPT when they molt (shed) their shell. When they shed they will need many hiding places such as caves and/or PVC pipes to avoid being killed by neighbor crayfish. It takes several days for their new shell to become hard again and adult crayfish shed once every two or three months.
-Do not use live plants in the crayfish aquarium because crayfish enjoy eating plants. Plastic plants and surface floating plants will be just fine however
-Also, crayfish are escape artists! Make sure your aquarium is well covered, especially at areas where tubing and pipes enter/exit the aquarium.
