August 2nd, Saturday 7:30pm – Buddhist Wisdom

Thure Svane-Dupont took refuge by Lama Ole Nydahl in 1986. In 1989 he moved to Southern Spain to live in the newly build Buddhist centre, Karma Gön. Shortly after his return to Denmark in 1990, he moved into the Buddhist Centre in Copenhagen where he lived for more than 8 years. In 1994/95 and 1996/97 he studied Buddhist philosophy at Karmapa International Buddhist Institute in New Delhi, India.

Thure started giving Buddhist teachings for high schools in Copenhagen 1991. Since then he has taught extensively mostly in Scandinavia, and he was in Siberia, Russia twice to give teachings. He finished the Ngöndro in 2000, and he is now doing the meditation of the 8th Karmapa.

Thure knows a great deal about how Tibetan Buddhism is practiced in the East, as he has taken part in several Buddhist events in monasteries in Nepal and India, one of them being the Kadjy Ngagtsö initiation (3 weeks) in Rumtek, Sikkim in 1992. In July, 2006 Thure and his wife Marie moved to the US, where he now has his own company. They are both active in the New York sangha. Thure teachings in North America beginning of 2007.
