Description:
The current study is looking for male participants age 21 and plus.
Part of the study involves an examination of genital pain thresholds in men with a pain disorder known as Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome. However, the pain thresholds in men without pain is unknown, hence we will be testing healthy males to examine whether there is a significant difference between the groups.
This study will require approximately one hour of your time; however, most of your time will be spent filling out a series of questionnaires that will be mailed to your home address and so, filled on your own time (Quality of Life and Psychological Factors Questionnaires). The session at the Royal Victoria Hospital (including signing the consent form, explanations about the procedure, testing and the pain interview) lasts approximately 10-15 minutes.
Participants will be reimbursed $50 for their expenses.
Some minor pain may be experienced during the procedures, but no other health risks are posed.
