Description:

JUNIOR BUYER

Responsibilities:
Responsible for following established purchasing policies and contributing to continuous improvement activities
Responsible for following cost and budget guidelines
Responsible for validating and updating the purchasing data base
Responsible for sourcing and expediting purchased parts, assemblies and finished goods from sister companies as necessary to meet production requirements
Responsible for resolving non-conformities
Source all finished goods, assemblies and components from sister companies based on APS demand
Enter and maintain all necessary data required to maintain the integrity of APS plans
Follow-up and expedite as necessary to ensure timely delivery of product
Responsible for ensuring all Purchase Orders are kept up to date and accurate in Syteline
Responsible for following up on daily basis with vendors, and advise Purchasing and Production Control superiors of any major problems regarding the delivery of material
Process active and on-hold phantoms
Administer all claims with vendors and carriers as required
Work closely with accounting and receiving department to ensure accuracy of receipts
Responsible for coordinating direct shipments from sister company facilities directly to contract sites
General maintenance of reports/commands on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis

Qualifications:
Must have 3 to 5 years experience in the field of purchasing/material control in a manufacturing facility, preferably in electrical, electronic, or lighting field
Must posses minimum, a college level diploma in Business Administration, or related field
Bilingual an asset

Knowledge and skills necessary:
Must be familiar with export/import duties, exchange rates, tariffs, and laws governing these
Familiarity with value analysis and lean manufacturing is essential
Must be computer literate and have ability to effectively interpret data
Experience working with ERP/APS systems would be an asset
Familiarity and understanding of M.R.P., KANBAN, J.I.T., and E.O.Q.'s is imperative
Must possess good problem solving skills and have ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
