Description:
If you are looking at buying a small breed puppy now or later on down the road, chances are you will come across the term "TEACUP", or maybe you already have. There are many TEACUP's out there Yorkies, Pomeranians and other small breeds. BUT BUYER BEWARE!!! THERE IS NO SUCH BREED AS A TEACUP! Check ANY of the SMALL BREED STANDARDS from the CKC and you will know! If you come across a breeder who uses this term, THEY ARE GIVING YOU FALSE INFORMATION! A good breeder of small breeds WILL NEVER REFER to any of their puppies as TEACUPS/POCKET PUPS ECT! Chances are, if you come across a pup that is smaller than usual, you are looking at a RUNT. RUNT's cost more, because they have cost the breeder more to take care of a keep healthy from birth. Chances are that breeder had to stay up night and day to keep this tiny pup healthy, so hence the cost will go up. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON. A reputable breeder will not breed for teacups but for the breed as a whole to the best of their ability. Any breeder who is breeding for teacups, is not looking out for the dog's breed as a whole and certain other factors that breeders SHOULD be breeding for may be overlooked, such as temperment, health, and conformation. MY BEST ADVICE to those of you looking for a small breed dog IS BEWARE OF BREEDERS USING THE TERMS TEACUPS/POCET PUPS ETC, as it is a marketing scam and you could end up paying ALOT OF MONEY for an unhealthy dog. Thats NOT to say that all runts are unhealthy. Many runts grow up to live normal lives and are VERY HEALTHY. But a good breeder will always suggest that you pick the best looking pup from the litter for ALL of its QUALITIES, and not for its size. GOOD LUCK FINDING THAT PUPPY OF YOUR DREAMS AND USE YOUR COMMON SENSE!
