Description:

Jessy is an 11-month old American Bulldog female we recently took into our foster program. Unlike many foster dogs we've come across, she shows no signs of any fear, aggression, or other issues common in 'rescue' dogs. The family we got her from had never had a puppy before and were not equipped for the challenges of raising a large, high-energy breed like her. We've had her for a few weeks now and are confident she can go to a variety of homes with very little challenge. She is obedient, well house trained, knows several commands, and extremely loving. She's good with children and gets along with our own American Bulldogs. Due to her young age she still tries to 'mouth' and will try to put her paws on you, but we have already reduced this behavior in the few weeks we've had her. She is very trainable and intelligent and willing to please - she just needs exercise, discipline, and time to finish growing up in a patient home.

She is a purebred dog and we have located the breeder, but her papers have been lost. We believe she is a registered dog but some work would have to be done to recover her pedigree.

We always warn people that American Bulldogs are big, strong, and stubborn. You should not adopt one if you are not an experienced owner. She is also a puppy and requires constant correction to help her learn impulse control. We are confident that with a loving family she will be a fabulous lifelong companion and could be a good watchdog with proper training.
